Preliminary information about second quarter net sales and result as well as full year result
Vaisala Oyj Stock exchange release June 23, 2010 at 09.30 a.m.
Vaisala expects its net sales to be at the same level as or slightly lower in
the second quarter of 2010 than the corresponding period in 2009. The result is
expected to be clearly unprofitable.
The net sales and result are mainly affected by the temporary delays in
shipments caused by efficiency measures implemented in May-June. The result of
the second quarter is also affected by approximately EUR 3 million one-off costs
from the ongoing profitability program that were communicated on June 17, 2010.
The above-mentioned one-off items burden the net sales of the second quarter by
approximately EUR 10 million and result by approximately EUR 8 million.
We reiterate our estimate that Vaisala's net sales in 2010 will grow slightly
compared to the preceding year. Uncertainty relating to the net sales and
profitability towards the rest of the year remains. The development programs
will continue to burden the result for the rest of the year. Hence contrary to
the earlier estimate, Vaisala estimates that the profitability in 2010 will be
slightly lower than in 2009.
Vaisala's second quarter results are published on August 11, 2010.
